Police pay tribute after fatal St Ives crash

Police have paid a tribute after a cyclist died in a fatal crash in St Ives.

Paramedics and officers were called to the scene at The Terrace on Sunday morning.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision but sadly the man could not be saved.

Now officers from Penzance, who attended the scene, say their heartfelt thoughts go out to the family and friends.

The police team posted on Facebook to say incidents like this are "one of the most difficult parts of policing".

"As some of you will have read in the news we attended a tragic accident in which a male lost his life this morning in St Ives.

"The accident involved a cyclist and no other vehicle.

"Our heart felt thoughts go out to the family and friends of the gentleman involved.

"It’s one of the most difficult parts of policing and affects us all deeply.

"Our thoughts are with you as we end our shift."
