Dog dies after falling from cliffs on north Cornish coast

A dog has died after falling from cliffs on the north coast of Cornwall.

Coastguard rescuers were called to the scene at Golden Burn, Porthcothan, at around 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Sadly the pet could not be saved, and was recovered to its family by the rescue team.

People are being urged to take care around the Cornish coast.

"Team tasked by Falmouth Operations Centre to reports of a dog over the cliff at Porthcothan round hole.

"Members of Padstow CRT walked around the coast to investigate and sadly the dog was found to the deceased. The dog was recovered to its family.

"The high readiness patrol continued and the rest of the team was stood down ready for the next tasking.

"Please take care whilst enjoying our beautiful coastline."
