Young man airlifted to hospital after falling 20ft onto rocks

A young man has been airlifted to hospital after falling 20 feet onto rocks in Cornwall.

A 999 call was made to the coastguard at Hannafore Point in Looe on Thursday evening.

Cornwall Air Ambulance, paramedics, a lifeboat and a rescue helicopter were all called to the scene to help.

The casualty was transferred from rocks back onto the beach and was treated by paramedics before being flown to Derriford hospital.

"HM Coastguard received a 999 call shortly after 6pm yesterday about a young man who had fallen around 20 feet onto rocks at Hannafore Point, Looe, Cornwall.

"The coastguard rescue team from Looe, the Looe RNLI lifeboat and the coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Newquay were sent to assist South West Ambulance Service at the scene.

"The young man was transferred from the rocks to the beach by the coastguards and lifeboat crew, where he received treatment from the two coastguard helicopter paramedics and a Cornwall Air Ambulance paramedic.

"He was then taken by the coastguard helicopter to Derriford hospital for treatment."
