Reassurance to people in Redruth as shops reopen

People in Redruth are reassured that measures are in place to make sure they feel safe in the town centre, as the shops reopen.

Monday marked the return to the high street for many, as non-essential businesses opened their doors to the public following lockdown.

Redruth has launched its reopening with assurances that shops, businesses and cafes which have modified their provisions to offer take-away services, will be tightly following guidelines.

It also has focused on hygiene policies, but most importantly of all, community is at the centre of the reopening.

“Whilst consumers and traders alike will have mixed feelings about the reopening of our shops, I would like to take this opportunity to assure our community that we are doing everything in our power to ensure the public feel safe.

“I hope everyone can use the ‘new normal’ to support our town and particularly its independent shops, but for those unable to do so, help and advice is still available.”

Deborah Reeve, Mayor of Redruth

Redruth town has set out three clear guidelines for visitors – keep social distance, keep to the left when moving around the streets of the town, and shop local.

It is also offering a business toolkit to assist the return to trading from its dedicated website.

The reopening of Redruth has been enabled by the England European Regional Development Fund who has offered to assist with funding to ensure that the measures required are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
