Topless woman saves three girls from rip current at Cornish beach

A woman is being hailed a hero after saving three people from a rip current on a nudist beach in Cornwall, while she was topless.

Jessica Layton noticed that three girls were in difficulty in the water at Pedn Vounder on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old from Penzance had been for a sea swim when she saw that the panicked cousins couldn't get back to shore.

She swam over to help and told the girls to all hold hands in a row, Jessica then took one of them by the hand and pulled as hard as she could.

She managed to swim with just one arm, kicking as hard as she could, and brought all three girls back to safety on the beach.

One of Jessica's friends called her a hero, saying 'not all heroes capes... or even bikini tops!'.

"I was on the beach on Tuesday and I went in the sea just before I was going home, and I noticed the tide was on its way in, and when that happens it is a bit choppier around the rocks.

"I noticed two young women near the rocks seemed to be struggling, it didn't occur to me there might be a rip current here, then another woman from their family came running in from the beach and tried to help, but it seemed as though she couldn't swim back to shore either.

"I swam over to see what was going on and they said they kept trying to swim but the sea was pulling them back out.

"I just said 'hold my hand it's going to be okay', so they all held hands in a row and I took one of their hands and pulled as hard as I could, kicking and swimming as hard as i could."

Jessica told Pirate FM that the girls were all very grateful and thanked her, then all eyes were on her as she left the beach.

"Obviously being on a nudist beach it is kind of expected that people are topless, as I was coming out of the sea people were standing on the beach looking to see what was happening, and as I exited the beach topless all eyes were sort of on me."
