Man dies after being pulled from sea at Porthcurno

A man has died after being from the sea by members of the public at a beach in west Cornwall.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene at Porthcurno on Thursday evening, but sadly the casualty in his 30s could not be saved.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man's family has been told.

"Police were called by the ambulance service to Porthcurno Beach shortly before 5pm yesterday following reports that a man had been pulled from the water by members of the public.

"The man, in his 30s, was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

It comes after multiple rescues were carried out by lifeguards at eight Cornish beaches in just one day.

The RNLI rushed to help people from rip currents around the coast on Wednesday.
