How to experience the 'virtual visual experience' of college's art exhibition

Over 1,000 people visited a Cornish college's first online art and design exhibition on day one.

Due to lockdown restrictions, the popular Truro and Penwith College summer event had to be cancelled.

But that didn’t stop  students and staff from finding a way to celebrate this year’s collection of work.

The exhibition, which has been titled Vision 20/20, has instead been hosted in a virtual exhibition centre that can be accessed from anywhere in the world and combines the work of both Truro and Penwith Students across all ages and course types.

The exhibition, which is usually held in Lemon Quay in Truro and Harbour Car Park in Penzance, celebrates the work and gives the public an insight into the breadth of art and design courses available.

Mark Dunford, Art and Design Programme Team Leader said: “The outstanding display of talent from both full-time and part-time students, further and higher education courses, represent the broad creative choice offered by art and design courses at the College: from Fashion to Graphic Design, Silversmithing & Jewellery to Fine Art, Ceramics and more, which are open to all ages and abilities.

“The online exhibition is a ‘virtual visual experience’, celebrating art and design created by both full-time and part-time students."

The new exhibition is just one of the ways that the college has moved to digital since the announcement of lockdown.

This includes their Connected College initiative which was created to ensure that staff, current and prospective students, businesses and stakeholders stay connected during these unprecedented times.
