'Gangs' of youths drinking and taking drugs around Redruth and Camborne

A warning has been issued about groups of youngsters shouting, swearing, drinking and taking drugs around Camborne, Pool and Redruth.

Police say they are receiving an increasing number of reports about gangs of youths congregating in parks, streets and wooded areas.

Officers say the behaviour is unacceptable, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, and that it has a detrimental effect on local residents.

Parents are being urged to talk with their children to make sure they are not part of any reported incidents.

"Camborne, Pool and Redruth police are receiving increasing reports of groups of youths congregating in parks, streets and wooded areas, the reports include the youths shouting, swearing, cherry knocking, underage drinking and drug taking as well as the lighting of fires in wooded areas all of which are unacceptable especially during the Covid- 19 Pandemic.

"The behaviour of these youths is having a detrimental effect on the residents in the areas mentioned and the Camborne, Pool and Redruth Neighbourhood team will be paying extra attention to those affected areas in order to catch the main offenders. Please chat to your children if they are out unsupervised and make sure they are not part of the reported incidents
