Pedestrian taken to hospital after crash in Cornish village

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being involved in a crash in a village near St Austell.

The man in his 50s was in a collision with a car in St Stephen at around 7am on Tuesday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at The Square and the pedestrian was taken to Treliske.

Officers say his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

The road was partially blocked near The Queen's Head pub.

"We received reports of a collision between a pedestrian in The Square, St Stephen, at around 7am. 

"Ambulance also attended the scene. 

"The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, has been taken to hospital in Treliske with injuries which are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. 

"The female driver of the car has been reported to court for an alleged driving offence."
