Two men taken to hospital after A390 crash

Two men have been taken to hospital in Cornwall after a crash in the early hours of the morning.

Two cars collided on the A390 near Lostwithiel just after 3am on Wednesday morning.

Paramedics, firefighters and police were all called to the scene and the road was closed at Middle Taphouse.

There were reports that people may have been trapped inside the vehicles.

Both drivers were taken to hospital but neither are believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The road was reopened at around 6.30am. 

"Police, fire and ambulance were called at 3.15am today following a two car collision on the A390 near Lostwithiel.

"Both male drivers were taken to hospital.

"The driver of one car sustained injuries which are not believed serious. The second was taken to hospital as a precaution.

"The road was closed at Middle Taphouse and traffic diverted off the A390 towards the A38 Glynn Valley."

"On receipt of this call stating that persons were trapped, both appliances from Liskeard and the rescue tender from Bodmin and an officer were mobilised.

"On arrival crews found two vehicles involved, fortunately no persons were trapped, crews made the scene safe.

"Two persons were treated by attending ambulance personnel."
