Cyclist who died in A30 crash was 71-year-old man

Police have revealed that a cyclist who died after a crash on the A30 in west Cornwall was a 71-year-old man.

A bicycle and lorry were involved at St Erth on Thursday.

Cornwall Air Ambulance, paramedics and officers were all called to the scene and the road was closed for several hours.

Sadly the man could not be saved and he died at the scene.

Police want anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, to get in touch.

"At around 11.25am on Thursday 2 July, police received a report of a collision involving a pedal cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle in Station Approach, St Erth, near Hayle in Cornwall.

"The cyclist, a 71-year-old male, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The road was closed in both directions while the scene was examined by a specialist forensic collision investigator."

Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or have dashcam footage, to call 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log 338 of 02/07/20.
