Devon and Cornwall Police deal with 1,000 incidents on 'Super Saturday'

It has been revealed that police dealt with over 1,000 incidents on 'Super Saturday' across Cornwall and Devon.

Pubs, restaurants and bars all reopened their doors again over the weekend, for the first time in three months.

Emergency services carried out patrols across Newquay and Truro, supporting premises to be open safely.

As the night progressed police said they started to see an increase in reports of disorder and drink-related antisocial behaviour across the force area, including in Barnstaple, Newquay, Torquay and Teignmouth.

Officers said the majority of reports were linked to drink-related disorder and antisocial behaviour, but that the vast majority of people continued to adhere to the guidelines.

Our force posted on Twitter:

"And that's it from me tonight! We have just topped 1000 police logs for today still with two hours left to go.

"The majority of reports this evening have been linked to drink related disorder and antisocial behaviour.

"If you're out this weekend, please have a great time but be respectful of our communities and of other people.

"Thank you all for following out posts, it's been great to see so many comments, likes and shares.

"Stay safe and goodnight!"
