Paradise Park reopens following coronavirus lockdown

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 11:37am 6th July 2020. (Updated at 6:46pm 6th July 2020)

Paradise Park in Hayle is reopening following the coronavirus lockdown.

Staff have been working hard to modify the experience as they welcome back visitors from Monday 6th July.

Social distancing measures are in place and people will need to book their tickets in advance, so staff can control visitor numbers.

“It will be a different Paradise experience, but we will have free-flying bird sessions, amazing new species to see plus all your favourites to revisit.

"There will be delicious takeaway options from our café and plenty of picnic areas throughout the Park.

"Our first two days the 6th and 7th are for our Season and Return ticket holders, and then from the 8th July tickets are open to all visitors.”

Director, Alison Hales

“We can still give visitors the chance to see many of our birds flying free throughout the day during their visit.

"Our flock of Scarlet Macaws will be at liberty for at least four hours every day (weather permitting) providing amazing photo opportunities as the fly around the park.

"Plus we have many new arrivals like our two Toco Toucans which were part of a group of 27 birds recently rescued from the illegal trade within the EU and now have a forever home at Paradise Park."

Curator, David Woolcock

For the time being the Jungle Barn and outdoor play area are closed.

You can find full information on what to expect on a visit to Paradise Park on the website.

Staff are thanking everyone who has supported Paradise Park during lockdown and they are continuing to fundraise.

Bosses say that due to the closure and ongoing limited visitor numbers, 'financially things are going to be very tough for a considerable time.'
