Car goes up in flames on A30 in Cornwall

A car has gone up in flames on the side of the A30 in Cornwall.

Firefighters got the shout to the westbound carriageway near Summercourt just before 9pm on Monday night.

The vehicle was found to be well alight and crews from St Dennis used hose reels to put the blaze out.

Damage shows the front of the car has been completely burnt out.

"At 8.44pm critical control received multiple calls to a car on fire on the A30 Westbound near to Summercourt.

"One appliance from St Dennis Community Fire Station attended and on arrival found the car to be well alight.

"The crew wore breathing apparatus and used to hosereels to extinguish the fire. The incident was left in the hands of the police."

"Nearing the end of drill tonight we received a call to a car fire on the A30.

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high pressure hoses to extinguish the fire."
