South-West arts organisations awarded share of over £2.5 million

Arts Council England has awarded four organisations across the south-west almost £1 million.

The Theatre Royal in Plymouth gets the largest share of this receiving £806,000 in total.  Leach Pottery managed by the Bernard Leach Trust Limited in St Ives receives £114,431.

The awards are part of round three of Arts Council England's Emergency Response Fund.  KARST in Plymouth receive £30,277 and Take A Part CIC get £30,000.

Overall the body has given £33 million to 196 organisations in England.  Of this £2,593,506 has been offered to 19 in the South West.

"With support from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and HM Treasury, on Tuesday 24 March the Arts

"Council announced it would make a £160 million Emergency Response Package available through three Emergency Response Funds.

"These funds were designed to help alleviate the immediate pressures faced by artists, arts organisations, creative practitioners, museums, and libraries over the summer – supporting them as they continue to serve their communities during this crisis and affording them the time to stabilise and plan for the future.

"Almost 90% of this investment was made up of National Lottery funding, and was made possible thanks to National Lottery players."
