Man in hospital after serious assault in west Looe

Police say the victim of a serious assault in west Looe has regained consciousness and is expected to recover.

Officers were called to reports of a fight in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident took place in the Princess Road and Quay area of the town.

It is believed that the men involved knew each other and police say it is an isolated incident.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has CCTV footage is being urged to come forward.

"Police made timely and significant enquiries in relation to the report of a serious assault on a male in the Princess Road and Quay areas of West Looe in the early hours of Saturday 11 July.

 "As a result, two men, aged 32 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of assault.

"They were taken to Newquay Police Station for interview and have been subsequently released under investigation.

 "The victim has now regained consciousness and is expected to recover.

 "This was an isolated incident and it is believed that those involved knew each other, while no-one else is currently thought to be involved.

"Police would still like to hear from any witnesses."
