Two houses suffer extensive damage after fire in Saltash

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 6:26am 17th July 2020.

Two houses have suffered extensive damage after a big fire broke out in Saltash.

Crews from the town, Callington, Launceston, Newquay and Devon were all called to the scene on Essa Road.

The fire broke out in the roof space of a house at around 2pm on Thursday afternoon but spread to a neighbouring property.

Luckily no one was hurt but a large amount of damage has been caused by the flames.

It took 10 firefighters to put the blaze out and the team says thoughts are with the families affected.

"Two Saltash appliances along with one from Callington, one from Devon, the ICU from Launceston and the ALP from Newquay attended a large house fire on Essa Road.

"A total of five BA teams (10 Firefighters) used hosereels to extinguish the fire along with the aerial ladder platform (ALP) from above.

"The fire was contained to the roof space but spread to the neighbouring house.

"Fortunately no one was hurt. However the damage to the two houses is extensive.

"Our thoughts are with the families affected."
