14-year-old attacked with whisky bottle on Perranporth beach

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 6:23am 22nd July 2020.

A 14-year-old boy has been attacked with a whisky bottle on a beach in Cornwall, in broad daylight.

The teenager confronted a group of at least five people about littering, after one of them threw a plastic cup into a rock pool on Perranporth beach.

A woman and two men then assaulted the youngster, smashing the bottle over his head and leaving him with a laceration to his head and ear that required 11 stitches.

It happened at around 6pm on Friday evening and police want anyone who saw what happened, or who has camera footage, to get in touch.

"The group are described as having London accents.

"The man who smashed the whisky bottle on the boy’s head is described as being a white male, around 20 years of age, with blond hair, of stocky build and around 5’9” in height. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.

"The other offender, who hit the boy after he’d been hit with the bottle, is described as being of slim build, around 5’7” in height and wearing a light blue top.

"Police are appealing for anyone who may be able to help identify the offenders, including mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time, to get in touch."
