An investigation is underway after a violent fight broke out late at night in Bodmin town centre.

A group of around 10 to 20 men and women had gathered in the Fore Street area, from around 11.30pm on Saturday 18th July to around 1am on Sunday 19th July.

Police say violent altercations are reported to have then broken out.

Officers are investigating after a 46-year-old man from the town was assaulted at around 1am on Fore Street.

They want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed, or have dashcam footage, of the incident, or has CCTV footage of the area around the time it occurred.

Police are also investigating a report that a man had been stabbed in the area of the junction of Dennison and Berrycombe Road, Bodmin, at around 11.30pm.

A 19-year-old man from Bodmin was taken to hospital in an ambulance for treatment for suspected multiple stab wounds.

Two local men have been arrested and bailed.

"A police dog unit conducted a search of the area and a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from Bodmin, were located and arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent and bailed until 13th August pending further enquiries."
