Here's how to find out where in Cornwall is offering half-price meals this August

A new service on the GOV.UK website has launched that will help diners in Cornwall find places near them offering discounted meals as part of the government's "Eat Out to Help Out Scheme".

The scheme allows people who eat-in at restaurants to get 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person.

It will be in operation every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3rd August and 31st August and can be used as many times as you like, with no voucher required.

Those wanting to find one of the over 53,000 outlets in the UK that have signed up so far, just need to put in a postcode to find a list of restaurants, cafes and bars taking part within five miles of them.

There is no minimum spend and the government website says you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts, but alcoholic drinks and service charges are excluded from the offer.

If you are out and about and hoping to find a restaurant that is part of the "Eat Out to Help Out Scheme", you can also look for special stickers (pictured below) in windows of outlets.

“Our restaurants, cafes and bars play a vital role in our economy, employing more than a million people.

"They have been hit hard by coronavirus, so it’s vital we do everything we can to help them recover.

“Our Eat Out to Help Out scheme is designed to get more customers through the door – protecting jobs by giving businesses the confidence to retain and hire staff."

Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak
