The three most relaxing drives in the UK are in Cornwall

Three stretches of road in Cornwall are revealed as the most relaxing drives in the UK.

New research from Auto Trader shows two thirds of us go for a drive to combat stress.

Padstow to Newquay, the A-thirty from Penzance to Sennen and the A391 to St Austell all made the list.

"One of the issues about lockdown was the lack of control that we had to do what we were told and couldn't do what we wanted.

"But the nice thing about getting in your car is that you suddenly have control of over your own little world.

"The scenery has to one of the main things but I also think it's getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city, seeing coasts and landscapes.

"I think the thing about the hustle and bustle is that it makes you feel busy and stressed."

Psychologist Sandi Mann

The survey shows that nearly two-thirds (59%) of Brits have been on a drive, or considered going on one, to help them unwind.

The study also suggests that people are most likely to go to the countryside or visit the coast when they get behind the wheel to combat stress.

But the A391, A30 and B3276 are referenced as some of the most relaxing routes.
