Person pulled from water after major rescue at Porthcurno

A person has been pulled from the water in west Cornwall after a multi-agency rescue operation.

Coastguard rescue teams, police, RNLI lifeboats, paramedics and a rescue helicopter were all called to Porthcurno.

It was amid reports of a person in the water at around 12.40pm on Saturday afternoon.

The person was recovered from the water and taken back to the beach for medical care.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency says no further information is available and the condition of the person is not currently known.

"HM Coastguard is coordinating a multi-agency response following reports of a person in the water near Porthcurno.

"The incident was first reported around 12.40pm today (1st August).

"Lands End and Penzance Coastguard Rescue Teams, with both Sennen Cove RNLI lifeboats and Porthcurno Lifeguards, HM Coastguard helicopter from Newquay, South Western Ambulance Service including Helimed and Devon and Cornwall Police responded.

"The person has been recovered from the water and transported to Porthcurno Beach for onward medical care."
