Man dies after being pulled from the sea in west Cornwall

A man has died after being pulled from the sea in west Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to reports of someone being in difficulty in the water at Pednvounder beach on Saturday, near Porthcurno.

Members of the public and medical staff tried to revive the man in his 40s, from Luton, but sadly he could not be saved.

Police say that his family has been told and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

"At 1330 hours Saturday 1st August Police received a report from HM Coastguard of a male in his 40’s had been pulled from the sea having got into difficulties at Pednvounder Beach Treen, St Levan near Porthcurno.

"Attempts to revive the male by members of public and medical staff were sadly unsuccessful and the male was pronounced deceased.

"The next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
