Radon Skin Cancer Fears

Radon Skin Cancer Fears

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 7:56am 16th November 2011.

Experts warn there could be a link between radon and skin cancer.

Levels of the gas are high in West Cornwall and the old Restormel area.

So too are types of the disease.

The Peninsula Medical School in Truro did the study.

Dr Ben Wheeler tells the Westcountry Tonight it needs more research: "Areas with higher average levels of radon concentration tend to also have higher rates of squamous cell so it's literally just the population rates. We don't know about the individuals within those areas, we just know the area statistics and they tend to show that sort of relationship".
