A Saltash mum diagnosed with terminal cancer faces an £11 thousand bill for holiday healthcare.

Gemma Kerswell was rushed to hospital with pneumonia on what was meant to be a last trip of a lifetime to Florida.

She had not been able to get insurance.

Now a campaign is underway to help cover the cost of the medical bills.

Husband Dave tells the Westcountry Tonight the support so far has been overwhelming: "I was awoken in the morning by Gemma's breathing. It was so severe that she could barely breathe and every time she was breathing, her lung would give her a sharp pain going up through her chest. I made the decision that I was going to take her into hospital.

"Gemma, obviously she feels quite embarrassed about the whole situation. She's not a fame-seeking person. All she's concentrating on, really, is getting well. This has really kind of eased the financial burden on our shoulders".
