The number of people sleeping rough around Truro has tripled.

Almost a hundred are on the streets this winter, compared to just over thirty last year.

Cornish charity workers blame the recession.

The St Petroc's Society warns most of us are only two or three steps away from losing everything.

Chief Executive Steve Ellis said, "Cornwall is really now starting to feel the bite. We did say homelessness catches up with places a year or eighteen months down the line. Cornwall is now starting to feel the difficulties associated with recession.

"There are many quotes and definitions of what makes a good society or community. But the people who find themselves homeless right now are truly vulnerable. They are not going to have a way forward unless the community is willing to offer some help."
