It is revealed more Cornish mums are smoking during pregnancy than almost anywhere else in Britain.

Figures for last year reached more than 800.

It comes as former Mum of the Year Stacey Soloman is snapped with a cigarette in her mouth.

Sarah from St Ives admits stubbing out the habit was one of the hardest things she has ever done: "I don't think it shocks me as much because I know how hard it is. I think I sympathise a lot. I know I went through hell but I had the support to do it. If I'd have had, if I'd been on my own, if I hadn't had such a supportive partner, I would've started. I feel sympathy for them.

"I used to smoke twenty every day and if I went out in the evening I'd have another twenty and if it was a really late night, maybe another twenty. It was hell. I have never had anything so difficult before. Everyone around me was smoking and I was very, very upset most of the time".
