A Cornish Smartphone app is launched to help find missing children.

'Lost Kidz' sends out an alert and photo to users within a kilometre.

Darren Fern from Truro developed it after losing his daughter while out shopping.

Now he has been in touch with Madeleine McCann's family:

"I was watching a TV interview when Kate McCann was talking about how helpless she felt when Maddie first disappeared and didn't know what to do or how to seek help. It really struck home so we thought about using modern technology to try and develop something"

"I'm hoping that the link with them in the long term will be just to help find missing children, so that nobody has to go through the ordeal that they've been through. What it is is a first response application so we've got the best chance of reuniting a child with their parent as fast as possible"
