It is feared more people could be getting liver in disease in Cornwall because of social drinking.

We are being warned even having a few after a work each day, can increase our risks.

Nationally, the number of deaths is up a fifth in less than ten years.

Consultant Dr Hyder Hussaini from Treliske claims cases are rising in the Duchy.

He said: "We've had a couple of deaths this year, from people in their twenties. People start drinking when they're twelve or thirteen and drink heavily. If they do that for ten years, when they're in their mid-twenties they could end up with end stage liver disease.

"Much of this is not being aware of how many units are in a bottle of wine for instance, or in a pint of beer. So people hold down their jobs, don't get done for drink driving, generally function very well, but they can still get done for a drink related problem."
