A Wadebridge woman in her nineties has been mugged in broad daylight by a teenager.

Police say the thief could be as young as fourteen.

He got away with a handbag packed with a hundred pounds and credit cards in West Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim had reached the top of steps at the end of an alleyway when she was approached from behind and had her handbag snatched.

It happened between 2.25pm and 2.35pm. Her attacker ran off down a bridal way in the direction of Egloshayle Church.

A police spokesperson said: "The victim was not injured as a result of the incident but was naturally shaken up.

"The beige double strapped handbag contained over one hundred pounds in cash together with credit cards and some food items.

"The offender is described as a male teenager, aged between 14 and 18 years, medium build and wearing dark clothing with a white motif between the shoulder blades on the rear of his top.

"Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or from anyone who has any information regarding the incident. They can be contacted on 101 and please quote police reference BW/13/19 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
