Bude Sea Pool Repairs
2:50pm 31st January 2013
Work is set to start on the next stage of a major refurbishment of Bude's historic sea pool.
Locals have raised thousands of pounds for repairs to its sluice gate and walkways.
Campaigners took control of the seventy year-old pool last year.
Paul Tilzey, Chair of Friends of Bude Sea Pool, said: "It is an iconic Bude structure. It is valued by the locals and the holidaymakers and to find that it is actually at last being improved and upgraded, and the facilities are going to increase year on year, I think it's exciting for the people of Bude.
"We're very excited about having a sluice gate that we can actually use, because it does get full with sand over the years. In certain places, it's only about one and a half to two foot deep. That will be great, so there's a uniformity of depth for people, so when they're jumping in they have depth on their side."
