summer in february

It was filmed around Lamorna and Prussia Cove, so it was appropriate that the first showing of new film Summer in February was held in Cornwall.

After being shot in the Duchy it had its premiere in Penzance on Monday night, before being released nationally next week.

The romantic tale, set just before the First World War, tells the story of a love triangle among a group of artists.

It stars Dan Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey.

Inspired by a true story it features the wild and bohemian Lamorna group of the Newlyn artists' colony, dominated by the charismatic Alfred Munnings.

He falls in love with aspiring young painter Florence Carter-Wood, who is also being pursued by the land agent in charge of the Lamorna estate, Gilbert Evans.

The events were turned into a novel in 1995, based on the diaries of Evans.

The film is released on June 14th.
