VIDEO: Britain's Got Talent Winner Insists She Did Not Con Viewers

Britain's Got Talent

Published at 6:05am 2nd June 2015.

The winner of Britain's Got Talent has insisted she did not set out to con viewers, after it turned out she used a stunt double dog.

It was not Matisse doing the high wire act in the final at the weekend - because he is afraid of heights.

The show is saying sorry that was not made clear before the quarter of a million pound prize was awarded - but the papers say Simon Cowell has ordered an investigation.

Asked if she had conned the British public, owner Jules O'Dwyer told the Mirror: “Absolutely not. How have I? I was just putting on a show – it was not my intention to deceive people.

“We have never hidden the fact we have used a multitude of dogs. My other dogs are part of this family. We’re like the Waltons.

"I chose to split the act up so as not to overwork my dogs.”

When the act required a daring jail-break across two ropes, Matisse was quickly substituted for Chase, who had already appeared in the semi-finals.

Jules said: “Dog lovers would have seen the difference as they are differently marked. One’s darker than the other.”

In a statement producers of Britain's Got Talent said: “The audience had previously seen from Jules’ semi-final routine that she works with a second dog Chase alongside Matisse.

"For the final performance, as Jules has said publicly herself, Chase completed the tight-rope walking section of the act.

“During the competition viewers have seen that Jules’ act involves a team of dogs, including Chase and Skippy, alongside starring dog Matisse, to perform her unique mixture of dog agility and story-telling.

"We are sorry if this was not made clearer to the judges and viewers at home during their final performance.”
