VIDEO: Trailer Released For Downton Christmas Finale

Published at 11:07am 3rd December 2015. (Updated at 11:33am 3rd December 2015)

The trailer has been released for the Christmas special and final ever episode of Downton Abbey.

Thousands tuned in to watch the series finale, which saw Mary get married.

But not before she seemingly ruined Edith's hopes of happiness, after telling Bertie Pelham Marigold was her sister's child.

As for the trailer, it shows the house singing Auld Lang Syne and Lord Grantham ask the Butler, Carson, if he's "OK with the way things turned out."

The big unanswered questions:

  • Will the family be able to stay at Downton Abbey as the future of stately homes changes?
  • Will Lady Edith end up with Bertie Pelham?
  • Will anything else go wrong for Anna and Bates or will they have a healthy, happy baby?
  • What's next for Tom and tot Sybil?
  • Will anyone else get married?
  • Will anyone die?

The actor who plays Carson has already said the ending will be emotional "in the right way."

It will not be an explosion or another car crash but Jim Carter has promised the Christmas day finale will be a tear-jerker.

The show's creator and writer has not ruled out a spin-off film.

Last month Julian Fellowes was honoured at the Emmy's by being given the Founders Award.
