VIDEO: Plymouth Apprentice Hopeful Fired

Brett Butler Smythe

Published at 6:01am 10th December 2015. (Updated at 11:53am 10th December 2015)

One of Plymouth's Apprentice stars is told - you're fired.

Brett Butler-Smythe lasted ten weeks on the show, before Wednesday night's task of selling healthy snacks proved too much.

His team did not manage to sell a single one (although neither did their rivals).

That is despite Brett throwing everything into the pitches, where he was criticised for not altogether making complete sense: "We as passionate people who go for the health industry, we're passionate for our product and our product is passionate to be a in position where it like needs to be," he told a group of potential buyers.

Take a look at how the pitch went here...

Lord Sugar told the two team leaders, Brett and fellow Plymouth local Charline: "You shouldn't consider this a nil-nil draw because you both lost."

Ordered back into the board room to find out their fate Brett decided to bring Richard, while Charleine chose Gary.

Lord Sugar said: "Charleine, you're an unbelievable force of nature when it comes to selling. However sometimes a little bit too forceful, you sometimes talk a bit too much.

"Brett, all I hear from you is Richard's done a good job. And also, your pitch to the fitness chain was terrible.

"Gary, Mr Corporate, I've been around for a long time, I've been in business for nearly 50 years and of course I've come across a lot of Garys, I've come across a lot of Richards also, I haven't come across many Charleines and I'm worried you lack entrepreneurial spirit.

"I'm afraid to say that in the case of Gary, I'm struggling, but Brett I think that there's no question that you like to throw your back into things but I talk about setting up a business and my concern is that what I've observed in the past ten weeks is really not up my alley.

"I'm going to have to let you go from the process and say, Brettโ€ฆyou're fired!"

Speaking to Pirate FM after leaving the series Brett said: "I've taken so much away from this experience that it's enabled me to go back to my normal business life with a new lease of life. I'm moving forward in a completely different direction to what I normally probably would have done.

"I've said from the outset nothing phases me, I don't fear nothing. I've stayed true to my self and true to my claims.

"I would have loved to have gone through the interview stage - but I think I have gone out at the right time."
