After 16 long years, Blue Planet is returning and the excitement is real!

The BBC announced there will be a sequel which will be shown later this year, narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

It will be a seven-part series looking at a whole range of scientific discoveries of marine life.

The beloved broadcaster told the BBC: “I am truly thrilled to be joining this new exploration of the underwater worlds which cover most of our planet, yet are still its least known.”

The series was filmed over four years and will feature the under water world from every continent on earth.

We will be able to watch marine behaviour in a whole new light, with creatures you probably didn’t know existed.

Take a look back at the 2001 series - who knows what we’ll encounter this time around!
