Devonport Services RFC raise over £27,000 for the NHS

Published at 7:15pm 9th April 2020.

With a target of just £200 the members of Devonport Services RFC set out to do their bit and raise as much money as they could for NHS Charities together, which aims to support NHS staff and volunteers whilst they care for Covid-19 patients.

The idea was that for every £10 donated, one player would shave their head. However, within days of launching their Just Giving appeal, the team have raised over £27,000.

Over £27,000 means a lot of shaved heads, so the team quickly started nominating other local rugby teams to start shaving their heads and raise some extra money too.

Tiverton RFC, Paignton RFC and many others have been nominated, including Truro RFC who have taken up the challenge and have already seen many of their members shave their heads to help raise as much money as possible.

The total is already phenomenal, but they're still trying to raise as much as they can to help our NHS. If you'd like to donate, you can do so here.
