An 89-year-old retired medical secretary from Cornwall is celebrating after having survived coronavirus.

Eva Sargeant was admitted to Bodmin Hospital for rehabilitation following a fall where she sustained a fractured hip.

She became unwell within a few days of her admission to us and tested positive and was symptomatic to Covid-19.

But luckily Eva has overcome the virus and says she is now looking forward to returning home to her husband and daughter.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust posted the good news to Facebook, the post had already had over 1,000 likes, comments and shares.

She was given a round of applause from hospital staff as she thanked them for all their help.

You can watch the moment staff at Bodmin Hospital celebrated with her below...

"I have never felt so ill in all my life. It's a really dreadful illness to have.

"All the staff have been absolutely wonderful. So patient and very kind.

"I am looking forward to returning home to be with my husband and daughter."
