Dom Seyler, a design and technology teacher at The Roseland Academy, has manufactured over 400 face shields to increase the availability of PPE for key workers working hard on the front line across the county.

The masks have already been distributed to 25 organisations, including hospitals, surgeries, care homes and government departments in the Duchy.

“It has become very clear that NHS, care and key workers across the country are facing shortages in protective kit which puts them at risk whilst doing their job and helping those in need.

We decided to start making the face shields in our Technology department as the demand is so high and we will do all we can to support Cornwall’s efforts against COVID-19,”

“The masks are donated to local key workers free of charge. We’re encouraging people to tell us through our Facebook page if they know of any local organisations who require face shields, and we’ll do our best to supply what they need.

We are pleased to be working together to help workers stay safe and healthy at this time of national emergency.”

However, it's not just their self produced face masks The Roseland Academy have donated, they've also given other vital PPE equipment to Treliske Hospital including safety gloves, surgical masks and 120 pairs of goggles.

“In these challenging times, we recognise the shortage of PPE is a real issue and we’ll continue to find ways of supporting our key workers by innovating and contributing in any way we can” continued Mr Seyler.

Headteacher Chris Challis added, “We are proud to be joining scores of volunteers, businesses and schools across the country helping to support the fight against coronavirus. We are actively looking for ways we can help so if there are things that our School could do, we would urge you to get in touch."

If you know of any organisation working hard on our front line in need of face shields, you can get in touch through their facebook page, here.
