How you can receive rewards for helping Cornwall's vulnerable young people

A Cornwall charity has set up a Crowdfunder in a desperate attempt to keep delivering crucial services to vulnerable young people.

BF Adventure, near Falmouth, supports over 4,000 individuals a year and 500 of them are considered as vulnerable, living in poverty and social isolation.

They say Covid-19 has seen a surge in domestic violence, loneliness, anxiety and feelings of isolation.

For the young people that it supports through its charitable programmes, it creates a potentially overwhelming demand for services.

"These young people already face some of life’s toughest challenges, including poverty, mental ill-health and other complex barriers," it said.

"Now more than ever, there is an urgent need to support them - for many, home is not a safe place to be."

BF Adventure is delivering a scaled down service from its safe and accessible outdoor site.

Due to Covid-19 however, it has lost nearly all of its income following the temporary closure of its site to groups and the public.

Without financial support, this accessible site, which is 30 years in the making and has supported nearing 100,000 individuals to date, may have to close forever.

The team has set up a crowdfunder that allows supporters to help cover its overheads and deliver crucial services while receiving rewards.

Adrian Richards, CEO at BF Adventure, said: “Our vital work is needed more than ever now and we are doing all we can to support those most in need through these challenging times and in looking to be ready to reach many more once current restrictions are relaxed.

"These are tough times for everyone but every little you can give will enable our team to make a massive difference and to make positive changes that will last a lifetime.”

BF Adventure is offering the chance to pay it forward and receive discounted activity vouchers, giving supporters and their friends or family the chance to join them onsite once the current restrictions lift.

Activities range from climbing to watersports, coasteering, zip-lining and Cornwall’s first ever Via Ferrata experience.

Many of these activities are available as childcare, for which there are also vouchers available.

The less adventurous might choose to donate a voucher to a disadvantaged young person or entire family, enabling them to join a fun, challenging adventure day, make life-long memories and learn to believe in themselves.

Corporates can choose to pay it forward and enter BF Adventure’s award-winning Business Challenge Event to build their team, network, promote their brand, tick their CSR box and boost employee well-being. There are also a range of sponsorship packages with several benefits to choose from.
