Cornwall Pride is calling on singers in Cornwall to feature in its new show, Isolation Idol.

Organisers will be streaming live rounds, showing pre-recorded videos of performers, on Facebook.

There's a considerable prize up for grabs, too.

❤ An 8 hour recording session in The Famous Company 's London recording studio,
❤ Headline promotion for Cornwall Pride events,
❤ Become Cornwall Pride's Performance Ambassador for the entire country - which will mean many more live performances.

Anyone interested in featuring can email their videos to

"Isolation Idol is a simple idea to bring everyone's isolation performances together and get them recognised," said Cornwall Pride chair Matthew Kenworthy Gomes, who is also a judge.

"Also, this is so everyone else isolating can interact and engage with the content. We have a great bunch of public judges to support the decisions of everyone else.

"Right now, connecting in every way possible is the most important thing to do. Pride is exactly about that, it's about connecting with everyone to show everyone can #LoveWhoYouWantToLove & #BeWhoYouWantToBe."

The live shows, on Wednesdays at 8pm, the team will share the videos and the judging panel with vote for the top four to be voted on by the public.

The public vote will be held on Facebook, with voters asked to react with the like, love, care, wow emojis for the relevant act.

Winners will be announced the following day.

There will be three rounds: male/non binary, female/non binary, drag and isolating groups before a live final with just the three finalists.

The public will get to vote once they have performed.

The events will be hosted by Sammy Shepphard.

The performances will be judged by:

  • Cornish spoken word performer MCMC Spoken,
  • Cornish music teacher Millie Millington,
  • Cornwall Pride chair Matthew Kenworthy Gomes,
  • Oxford Pride Chair Zayna Ratty,
  • and American trans singer/songwriter, Shea Freedom.

"As people, and especially us Brits when we are faced with hard times we very often turn to entertainment.

"Sadly, it's this industry which will be one of the worst hit at the moment.

"Isolation Idol is a fantastic opportunity to help distract its viewers from the hard times we are in but also give performers an opportunity to carry on performing; all the from safety of our homes.

"What a great way to use one of the worlds greatest healers, MUSIC, to bring us together and have some fun."
