Women performers wanted for Isolation Idol's next round

Cornwall Pride's Isolation Idol is back on Wednesday and looking for talented women performers.

Organisers are calling on singers in the Duchy to feature in the show which launched last week.

It saw Ciaran Rutherfurd emerge as the winner in the male category.

Here's his winning video:

Organisers are streaming live rounds, showing pre-recorded videos of performers, on Facebook.

Now it's the turn of the women.

"For this week we really would love more amazing women performers to send us in a link of them by Wednesday 13th, 10am," said Cornwall Pride's Matthew Kenworthy Gomes.

You can e-mail the team at info@Cornwallpride.org

There's a considerable prize up for grabs, too.

❤ An 8 hour recording session in The Famous Company 's London recording studio,
❤ Headline promotion for Cornwall Pride events,
❤ Become Cornwall Pride's Performance Ambassador for the entire country - which will mean many more live performances.

In the past week Cornwall Pride has confirmed that the Isolation Idol winners video will be put forward to be entered into Global Pride 2020 for consideration.

You can catch up with the full first show here:

"Isolation Idol is a simple idea to bring everyone's isolation performances together and get them recognised," said Cornwall Pride chair Matthew Kenworthy Gomes, who is also a judge.

"Also, this is so everyone else isolating can interact and engage with the content. We have a great bunch of public judges to support the decisions of everyone else.

"Right now, connecting in every way possible is the most important thing to do. Pride is exactly about that, it's about connecting with everyone to show everyone can #LoveWhoYouWantToLove & #BeWhoYouWantToBe."

The live shows, on Wednesdays at 8pm, the team will share the videos and the judging panel with vote for the top four to be voted on by the public.

There will be three rounds: male, female, drag, non-binary and groups before a live final with just the three finalists.

The public will get to vote once they have performed.

The events will be hosted by Sammy Shepphard.

The public vote will be held on Facebook, with voters asked to react with the like, love, care, wow emojis for the relevant act.

Winners will be announced the following day.

The performances will be judged by:

  • Cornish spoken word performer MCMC Spoken,
  • Cornish music teacher Millie Millington,
  • Cornwall Pride chair Matthew Kenworthy Gomes,
  • Oxford Pride Chair Zayna Ratty,
  • and American trans singer/songwriter, Shea Freedom.

"As people, and especially us Brits when we are faced with hard times we very often turn to entertainment.

"Sadly, it's this industry which will be one of the worst hit at the moment.

"Isolation Idol is a fantastic opportunity to help distract its viewers from the hard times we are in but also give performers an opportunity to carry on performing; all the from safety of our homes.

"What a great way to use one of the worlds greatest healers, MUSIC, to bring us together and have some fun."
