There's a new outdoor climbing adventure opening in Cornwall this weekend

After running a successful crowdfunding campaign, Via Ferrata is opening to the public on Sunday the 26th of July!

Sharing a 60 acre site near Penryn, Via Ferrata Cornwall will enable customers to push their limits as they journey across old granite quarries in an unforgettable adventure.

Originating in the Alps during World War I to enable troops to cross mountains, a Via Ferrata (meaning ‘iron path’ in Italian) is a climbing route like no other.

Metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires make it one of the most adrenaline-filled climbing activities worldwide.

It's being launched by BF Adventure, a local charity and outdoor activity centre, with all profits supporting local disadvantaged young people.

Opening this Sunday (26th July), Via Ferrata are also offering a discount for NHS staff, social workers, emergency staff and those in the Armed Forces

They told us "Via Ferrata Cornwall recognises the enormity of the work done by NHS staff throughout this pandemic and would like to thank them by offering a 10% discount. This discount also extends to those in the Emergency Services, Armed Forces and Social Care Sector."

They ask that those interested email with their NHS email address or a photo of their NHS ID Card or Blue Light Card.

With training provided, customers will develop their climbing skills as they traverse across quarry walls over 20 meters high, face their fears on the High Wire Bridge where they’ll cross the quarry on a 70m single strand of wire and leap from the clifftops on one of the most scenic zip-lines in Cornwall.

This challenge offers routes for adventurous 8’s and over, with various difficulty levels.

Their onsite café - the Goodygrane Café - is run in partnership with The Cornish Barista and not just a place to get delicious food.

They're also big on sourcing local and offering work experience and training opportunities, particularly to the young people that BF Adventure supports through its charity work.

They also make sure 10% of sales will go towards helping these young people.
