UPDATE! Success for the boys running laps of their garden for Paradise Park

boys laps

Two brothers called Sam (aged 10) and  Oli (aged 7) are fundraising for the birds and animals at Paradise Park in Hayle by running 1,000 laps around their garden.

Earlier we reported that they had currently raised £370 of their £400 target.

Well, they’ve now smashed it and are on 108% and £432!

Well done Sam and Oli!

Keep donating if you can to help raise even more money for their cause.

"We have chosen to raise money for Paradise Park as we know they rely on visitors entry fee to pay for the animals food. Since the park is closed due to the current situation, they need as much financial help as possible. We will be running a total of 31 miles each around our garden. We hope that you will join us in supporting this cause by sponsoring us. Love Sam and Oli xxx"

5 Cornwall animal charities that need your help

There has been a lot of goodwill, fundraising and kind gestures shown by many people in recent weeks.

But while we have been in lockdown, we haven’t been able to take the kids to some of Cornwall’s family parks.

Many tourist destinations that rely on donations and the goodwill have been hit and are struggling to make ends meet.

Below are just a handful that would really benefit from your help if you are able.

Any amount, no matter how small, will see it go straight to the care of the animals at these destinations.

Hugs Foal Fundraiser

hugs foundation

The Hugs Foundation rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes unwanted, abused and abandoned horses and ponies.

It wants to improve children and young people's mental and physical well-being and to increase social inclusion and well-being in the elderly through supportive interventions.

But that comes at a cost - and Coronavirus is hitting their funding hard.

"We have had 3 beautiful foals arrive and another due. Each foal costs approximately £880 in it's first 6 months. That's £3520 for 4 without any complications. Please help support their care so they have the best start and follow their amazing stories," it said on its JustGiving page.
