Eight-year-old sets out to complete virtual marathon for charity

Published at 8:00pm 7th July 2020.

Eight-year-old Lily has set out to run the length of the Inca Trail to raise money for Amnesty International, all whilst shielding in her house.

Having spent over 120 days inside, due to her household having to shield, Lily has decided to spend that time trying to help others.

With the help of a treadmill, Lily is trying to complete the marathon, a mile at a time.

Lily is hoping to raise as much money as she can for Amnesty International as well as gain her fundraising badge for Brownies.

"I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me so please donate and help me reach my target in aid of Amnesty International.

I am taking part in a virtual marathon and other fundraising activities to support this very good cause. Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated.

I hope to gain my fundraising badge for Brownies!"

Lily - age 8

Having already completed eight miles, this incredible effort has already seen Lily raise over £200 for the charity - but she isn't stopping there!

If you would like to donate, you can do so via her crowdfunder page, here.
