A Cornish primary school has issued an update after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Lanivet School, near Bodmin, says a subsequent test has now been carried out and has come back negative.

Bosses say it could have been been a false positive test or the person's Covid-19 infection might have ended.

Several other members of staff have also been tested and all the results have come back negative.

In a message sent out to parents, mums and dads are being thanked for their understanding.

"We have been informed that our staff member that tested positive for Covid-19, has undergone a subsequent test. This subsequent test has come back with a negative result. We are either dealing with a false positive test initially or an infection that has come to an end.

"Several other staff members have also been tested, some because they were advised to by the Track and Trace teams and some voluntarily, all reported results are negative.

"Thank you to our school community for your caring and respectful reaction to the situation. I’m sure that you understand that we must report a positive case as soon as we are given that information.

"Please remember that we are still dealing with this virus being in our community and we need to follow guidelines so that if future cases are report we know that we have all as individuals done our best to limit the spread.

"We will always share new information with you as soon as possible."
