Prince Philip out of hospital just in time for Christmas

It has been confirmed that Prince Philip has left hospital after being treated for a pre-existing condition.

The Duke of Edinburgh has spent four nights at King Edward Vll's in London.

The 98-year-old was seen getting into a car in a secluded street behind the unit.

The Royal did not respond to photographers as he was driven away on Christmas Eve morning.

Buckingham Palace has released a statement, confirming that Prince Philip was released on Tuesday.

He has now returned to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk to spend Christmas with the Queen.

"The Duke of Edinburgh has today left hospital after being discharged by his doctor and is now back at Sandringham.

"His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes".

The palace would not go into details about the Duke of Edinburgh's condition or what treatment he received.
