Spring Cleaning Hacks You Haven’t Got Time to Miss

Most of us have got some kind of cleaning routine. We clean the same things, in the same way, every week with maybe a few bigger jobs done once a month, or when we remember. The important, everyday things are clean and the same things get missed every time. In some hard to reach or out of site areas, dust and dirt build up while clutter multiplies. This is why the spring clean is incredibly important. It’s your chance to go through everywhere thoroughly and make sure you get to those often-missed areas, giving your home a fresh lease of life and cheering yourself up in the process.

But with our ever-busy lives, who has the time to go through their house, room by room, top to bottom, decluttering and cleaning every nook and cranny? That’s where these all important time and energy saving hacks come in!

Windows

There are a lot of products on the market designed for window cleaning, most of which cost a fortune and smell like strong chemicals. For a much easier, cheaper, and more fragrant clean, all you need is a microfiber cloth and some warm water. You don’t even need soap. Dip the cloth in the water and wipe your windows with long vertical strokes to get them sparkling in no time.

Carpet

Most of us vacuum multiple times a week, which is great. But carpets easily become a home to hair build up, which a vacuum cleaner just rubs in deeper. This is especially true when you’ve got pets. Run your sticky clothes roller over them for a simple solution.

Stains

Coffee, wine, food and other stains might seem hard to remove, but for the most part, all you need is some baking soda. Dab the stain with a damp microfiber cloth before sprinkling over some baking soda and leaving it for at least a few hours. Then you just need to hoover it up.

For hard stains, such as paint or nail varnish, try chipping with a butter knife before dabbing with nail varnish remover. Then use baking soda to get rid of the smell.

Oven Racks

Oven cleaning seems like one of those big stressful jobs, but it doesn’t need to be. Simply soak the racks in your bath with some washing up liquid for a few hours and they should clean easily.

Water Marks

Water marks on taps, tiles and chrome seem like a stain you are stuck with. But, all you need is a little apple cider vinegar and most of them will rub right off.

Tiles

A build-up of dirt and mould is exceptionally common on the grout of bathroom tiles. You may worry that the only way to get rid of it is to re-grout, which can be tough. First, try mixing baking soda with a little water to create a paste. Dip a toothbrush in and scrub your tiles with it. Leave for a few minutes before rinsing off. Just don’t forget to throw the toothbrush away after.

Even with these hacks, cleaning can be tough. Why not make the job more interesting by trying out Ladbroke’s Spring Cleaning game.  You’ll still have to clean, but at least it will be more fun.
