Cornwall has taken a battering from the snow. Hundreds of people were left without power or electricity, every school in the Duchy was shut and drivers were trapped in their cars on the A38 and A30.

So Pirate FM wants to salute the people who stepped up to help keep us safe.

The medics who worked extra shifts at the hospitals, the gritters who didn’t see their families as they battled to keep the roads clear and the four by four drivers who helped the rest of us out.

If you helped someone last week – thank you. You’re what makes living in Cornwall great.

Pirate FM is proud to have been a part of that. And we’ll be here next time schools are shut or the weather closes in, we'll deliver the news as it breaks and traffic and travel updates every 15 minutes at breakfast and hometime.

Just like we are every other day – because we live here too
